Yes, You Can! How to Wear Radiant Orchid

Expert on Time_Spring 2014 Trends

Haven’t heard the buzz yet?  Radiant Orchid is this year’s ‘it’ color of 2014. Literally. Each year Pantone names a color of the year, and 2014 served up a wonderful pinky, fuchsia-ish, purple shade that proceeded to spill into the fashion and beauty world.  Spring makeup launches always deliver their fair share of pastels, pink, peaches, and nudes, but this season PINKS and more specifically, orchids wash everything in a beautiful flush.

Feeling a bit timid about wearing an orchid lip or nail? We found perfectly wearable products and hues that show-off the spring colors trend without looking garish, or fevered.

Go ahead! Play with these products:

  • Benefit Lollitint Check and Stain:  This product looks and feels like adult candy! It creates a soft pink flush on the cheeks, so winter complexions brighten up without appearing clown-like. As with any of the Benefit tints, you build color by reapplying a second time, however we advise applying the product sparingly on an exfoliated and well-moisturized skin for a smooth finish.
  • Nars ‘Final Cut’ Collection Satin Lip Pencil in Villa LanteNars Satin Lip Pencils are thicker than a traditional lip pencil, and act as a liner and lip color. I. LOVE. THEM. This shade delivers an on-trend color without the purple hue that sometimes appears in a blue-based pink. (Please note: The Nars Final Cut Collection is exclusive to Nordstrom.)
  • Boots Botanical Eye Shadow Quartet in Orchid Purple: A perfectly wearable collection of slate, gray, indigo and lilac. It offers a twist to your usual nudes, taupes, and browns. Plus, you can’t beat the value at $7.99.
  • Deborah Lippman Nail Color in Shape of My HeartAn absolutely lovely soft pinky-nude! I adore Deborah Lippman polishes– the wear like iron and this particular shade serves up a subtle nail color with a hint sass.
